For two years, EBC and GK have been partners in providing an extraordinary sports program to the children of GK SAGIP (Sagipin Ang Galing, Isip at Pangarap ng mga Kabataan) at the Ateneo Alumni Association GK Molave Village in Payatas. Through the Brazilian art form of Capoeira, we aim to provide the children with the opportunity, positive values and confidence to hope, dream big and persevere.
Capoeiristas from EBC schools in Manila, Bacolod, Malaysia and Brazil, as well as visiting capoeiristas from schools in other countries, have shown their support for this little project. Brazilian capoeira masters have even flown in to give free workshops. The children have shown a positive response to these interactions. They have not shied away from the opportunity to learn from their visitors, practicing movement and music non-stop, even trying out their English and newfound Portuguese words!
This is our first EBC-GK Batizado – an initiation rite that will officially welcome all of the children to the capoeira world. To be held within the Molave Village, the ceremony will not only reward the children with a belt, but it will show the community how far these children have come and just how much further they can go.
We are inviting you to be part of our little community building activity. Your support and simple participation will make the event that much more special for everyone involved.
We promise you an afternoon of fun... and lots of warm fuzzy feelings... AT NO CHARGE! :)
